A moment of normality…

You know, it’s funny, I started writing this blog post a week or so ago, it was all about a little mini-vacation that Lou and I took and the feeling of normality during that trip. Now, well, Victoria finds itself inside of another lockdown. Just a short 5-day lockdown, which will hopefully end today (fingers are crossed).

But it got me thinking about how quickly things can change right now, and how much appreciation I have for when we get to do things like go on vacation. After a year without a little escape, it was truly lovely. And for so many reasons! And then this week, I can’t leave my house to walk around the block in the morning and then leave again later for exercise, but a week from now, who knows where we’ll be!

One thing I do know, is how much better prepared we are for when these little lockdowns sneak up, how to keep ourselves entertained and happy while at home. During the first couple of lockdowns, Lou had lost her work and things were tight, and mentally challenging, but we really made the most of our time at home. We both got back into creative avenues that we hadn’t carved out time for before. Lou’s gotten right back into drawing, and even bought herself a drawing tablet which has been incredible (I think you’ve seen her bookmarks), and I started watercolour painting and sewing (thanks to my inspirational Mumma and a hand-me-down machine from my dear friend Clare).

Now when we get the news that we have to stay home for 5-days, it’s simply recognising that someone else has decided for us that it’s time to stay home and focus on some projects! Not only that, but after over 110-days in our hard, stage 4 lockdown, 5-days feels like nothing…

So, after giving you a quick rundown of what my situation is like, I am curious, what is life like where you live?

Do you find yourself in a lockdown? If so, how long have you been there?

Do you still have plenty of freedom or are you getting to know your home on a more personal level?

What are you loving, and what are you struggling with?

Has lockdown allowed you to discover or rediscover an old passion?

I’ll stop with the third degree, but I really am curious what you’re going through.

I think it’s in my nature to find the sunny side of a situation, but I recognise how hard this past year has been, and for so many different reasons, so I want to take a moment to say that if you want to reach out and talk, or if you simply need someone to listen, I am here. I have a sturdy shoulder for leaning on and a couple of ears that are great at listening.
